Kenny Roby

One of my favorite songwriters lives right here in Raleigh, North Carolina. Kenny Roby, frontman for the regrettably-defunct Six String Drag, has just released his third offering, Mercy Filter. I made my way out to Raleigh's Pour House for Kenny's CD Release party on Friday night. Kenny was in top form, backed by a full band that included two drummers.

Kenny's new album is available over at his website. There are several musical offerings from his first two solo discs available there, in the form of flash-playable mp3's. For the new stuff, there are soundclips for Mercy Filter are available at Myspace.

Very cool. My mom lives near Raleigh. Finally, incentive to go out to see her. Good music! (okay...no one tell my mother this, thanks...)

lots of good music in this area, Danielle. another artist, Alina Simone (scroll down to see a post on her) has recently relocated from NYC to Carboro, NC. (which is to say, Chapel Hill.) i hope to catch her live show soon.

hey luisa... i can kind of see a resemblance. Kenny is way cooler than LL, though.

that is sad about Chris Penn. i will forever remember him as "Nice Guy" Eddie. RIP.
