On it's on this would bring to mind a child genuinely afraid to go do school for some reason. The bigger bully comes to my mind immediately. - And it is a touching story.
But considering the prior post - this takes on a whole new,and more profound meaning. Very well done.

I've witnessed this scene several times as well. It stays in your mind, makes a pause in your thoughts - like a bus stop.
