Deep-Fried Diesel

"The diesel engine can be fed with vegetable oils and would help considerably in the development of agriculture in the countries that use it." --Rudolf Diesel, 1911
Being a diesel devotee since 1998 (Volkswagen TDI) and with the prices climbing on all petroleum-based fuels, I was pleased to learn about a company called Greasel. They manufacture conversion kits for all kinds of diesel vehicles, allowing cars like mine to run off of used vegetable oil. I am considering making the necessary modifications to my well-loved VW. One potential drawback is that the diesel exhaust smells like french fries. But I think that would be much more pleasant than the burnt dinosaur bones I'm currently emitting.
